Carmenere Grape

The Carmenere grape is related to Cabernet Sauvignon. The name is derived from the word crimson, which is translated to carmin in French because of the beautiful crimson colouration of the vine's leaves shortly before they fall. It was initially located in the Medoc region of Bordeaux, France.

Carmenere is considered one of the "six red grapes of Bordeaux," with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The Carmenere grape is now primarily produced in Chile and is only seldom grown in France. In Chile, a Carmenere wine can contain up to 15% other grape varietals in its blend.

Because the Carmenere grape likes a longer growing season in warmer locations, Chile's climate is ideal for it. It only grows in locations with a lot of rainfall. This results in a delectable blend of black plums, blueberries, and blackberries. Mild chocolate and green pepper aroma can also be found in the grape. With robust flavours, fine Carmenere wine will please the centre of your palate.

Most Carmenere has a moderate alcohol concentration, ranging from 14.5 to 15%.
